Barb Good Toohey

Head Coach

Toohey was a Varsity Swimmer at Williams College for 4 years and an NCAA Division III All American in 1982. At Williams College, Toohey was captain for the Women's NCAA Swimming National Championship team her Senior Year. Moving forward in her swimming career, Toohey ventured into her experience in coaching as a Volunteer Coach and Team Administrator for MASK (Marshfield Area Swim Klub) from 1998 until 2011. She also volunteered her time for the Penguin Special Olympics where she coached various age groups of swimmers. Toohey was the Marshfield High School Swim/Dive teams Assistant Coach from 2003 to 2011 and then advanced her role to becoming the Head Coach in 2012 and has maintained that role since. Along with being the Head Coach for Marshfield High, Toohey has also been the Head Coach for the Hanover High School Swim/Dive Team since 2005.  In 2012 she created Sailfish Swim Team to develop swimmers in the South Shore.

Jessica Laidley

Coach

Laidley graduated from Keene State College where she was a Varisty Swimmer for 4 years. During her time on the Keene State swim team, she helped set the record for the Women's 800 Free Relay at the LEC Championships. In 2010 and 2011, Laidley also became an LEC champion in the 500/1000/1650 yard freestyle. She received the NFISDA honors in the 500 and 1650 yard freestyle. Her competitive swimming career began when she was 6 years old where she was a member of SSYS for 11 years. Laidley also swam for Brockton High School and recieved the honor of being named captain of the women's team. Laidley's favorite things include sharks, the color hot pink, swedish fish, and her hamster named Nugget! While continuing her career as a swim coach, Laidley also works for BJs Wholesale Club as a Planning Analyst.

Matthew Nugent

Matt Nugent’s swimming career began at nine years old, swimming for the Hockomock Area YMCA Lightning. Nugent swam with Hockomock Y through high school, and was also a captain and 4-year varsity swimmer for Mansfield High School. Following his graduation from the University of Maryland, Nugent took on the role of assistant coach with Hockomock Y. At Hockomock, Matt worked with a number of athletes who went on to swim in college, including the Division I programs of Maine, Bryant, Brown, and Villanova. Matt also worked as an assistant coach for the Mansfield High School Swim Team. After accepting a position teaching 7th Grade in Marshfield, Matt took on a position as an assistant coach with the Marshfield/Hanover High Schools Co-Op team, as well as joining Sailfish as an assistant in early 2024.

Janet Keyes

COACH

Janet's coaching career spans many years and covers teams such as South Shore Y Strypers, Team Turbo out of Plymouth and now Sailfish Swim Team.  She is Board Certified in the Arts and Sciences of Cosmetology and Business with a passion for competitive swimming. She is a seasoned USA Coach who is highly motivated.  She has extensive experience focusing on innovative training while teaching good technique and skill development, helping swimmers achieve competitive goals while having fun.

As Strypers coach in Quincy pre-2000, She mentored several age group swimmers to the Y National level and as head coach of Notre Dame Academy Varsity team she led them to a Catholic Conference Championship.  She then launched Team Turbo out of the Pinehill of Plymouth for 13 years growing from a rec program to USA swimming.  During 2019-2020 Coach Keyes was hired as Head Coach of Scituate High School Sailors Swim and Dive Team.

Janet attributes much of her success to the many encouraging coaches she encountered over the years.  On her "MeTime," Coach Janet spends much time teaching her Yellow Canary Bird, Honey Dew, how to swim. Good Luck with that Coach!
